Better World is a newsletter from me, Prem Thakker. I’m a recent graduate of Columbia, where I studied the history of race, labor, and the environment in America. I am originally from North Dakota. I am now reporter at The Intercept, and I was previously a breaking news writer at The New Republic. I’ve also done work for CNN podcasts, The American Prospect, and the Washington Monthly.
This newsletter focuses on the array of ways we are told that a better world isn’t possible — and how people can and do pursue one anyways. The writing is grounded in love, not cynicism; conviction, not compromise; and a wholehearted belief that humans can actually be for each other, and not simply in spite of each other.
